Fabio Fabbi

Oil painting on canvas by Fabio Fabbi (Bologna 1861 - 1946) depicting an oriental dance.

Signed lower left "F. Fabbi". Oil on canvas 67 x 46 cm within a golden frame 90 x 70 cm.

Period: second half of the nineteenth century

Fabio Fabbi was an Emilian painter, born in Bologna in 1861. In 1886, together with his older brother Alberto (1858-1906), Fabbi undertook a trip to Alexandria in Egypt. This particular experience constituted the artist's pictorial turning point, due to which he abandoned sculpture. Fabio was fascinated by the oriental and multicultural context of the city. He therefore decided to bear witness to it through a diary and photographs that he will transfer to canvas.
